221 recipients managed to leave the clutches of poverty

SHAH ALAM, 30 May: A total of RM3.7 million in economic aid has been provided by the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) to the poor and needs, as well as converts, since January to April.

The Manager of the Corporate Communications Sector, Norajun Ainun Mohd Hashim, said that it is to help this people improve their lives and income through various sectors.

“This assistance is only provided to poor and needy recipients, as well as converts, in Selangor who are registered with LZS.

“Among the forms of assistance provided is business capital, fisheries and livestock assistance,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said that RM22.2 million was allocated by LZS for this group’s economic development last year.

At the same time, Norajun said that 1,859 recipients have already received business from LZS as of now.

“The business assistance is channeled with a maximum of RM5,000 involving capital and goods or machinery for recipients to start a business,” he said.

A total of 221 recipients managed to leave the clutches of poverty from the number of recipients of the business assistance recipients.
