Federal government failed to provide health development

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 May: The federal government is behind in health development due to the failure in providing adequate hospitals across the country to meet the needs of the people.

The Shah Alam Member of Parliament, Khalid Abdul Samad, said that the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK-11) does not include solutions to address the problem, especially in the Klang Valley.

“Although the government is trying to do all we can in the past five years, however the truth is it is left behind in terms of achieving the previous RMK.

“The number of hospitals is not sufficient causing the existing ones to be overcrowded.

“We see that the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang and several other hospitals are not able to meet the existing needs,” he told Selangor Kini at the Parliament lobby today.

Khalid also referred to the Shah Alam Hospital which failed to be completed on schedule inviting significant problems to the community, especially in Selangor and the Klang Valley.

“I see that the government is trying to channel some of these needs to the private sector. It is a problem for people who cannot afford this services.

“For me, it is continuous failure,” he said.
