Free bus service expanded until Ampang Jaya, Selayang & Kajang

SHAH ALAM, 4 May: The free bus service for the convenience of the people is concentrated in urban areas in the effort to strengthen public transport in the state.

The Exco for Investment, IKS Industries and Trade and Transport, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that the focus area at the moment is in Shah Alam, Klang and Subang Jaya.

He said that the state government is now in the negotiation process to obtain the best price for the implementation of this service.

“Petaling Jaya has begun this service well and so has Shah Alam, but we are expanding it.

“But due to budget constraints, at the moment we are planning to expand it in Shah Alam and start services in Klang and Subang Jaya,” he told Selangor Kini.

Chang Khim said that the state government is also planning to expand this free bus service in Ampang Jaya, Selayang and Kajang.

He said that in order to realise this, local authorities have to prepare funds in addition to obtaining sponsorship from government-linked companies (GLCs).

“Local authorities must help in terms of funding so that we can start this programme quickly so that the people can enjoy free public transport.

“We have also started studies on the matter to be looked at from all aspects before it is expanded to other areas,” he said.
