‘Hire Purchase’ concept homes to help people own homes

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 May” The ‘Hire Purchase’ scheme has the ability to realise the dreams of the less fortunate to own homes due to financial instability and not having a high income.

The Sepang Member of Parliament, Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, said that the concept proposed by the Selangor government should be implemented together with the federal government to help the people.

“I agree for it to be implemented because many cannot afford buying homes, especially those who are less stable. For example, we see that many can afford to buy vehicles due to this hire purchase concept.

“We rent, but in the end we would own the house we have been renting. If we only rent, it does not own with ownership of the house. This method is more secure,” said Mohamed Hanipa to Selangor Kini today.

The Petaling Jaya Utara Member of Parliament, Tony Pua, said that those having low incomes often think only of paying for their house rental instead of owning their own homes.

“The policy if good because the less fortunate do not think about owning homes because of limited capability. They cannot concentrate on long-term plans,” he said.

Tony said that the Selangor government’s plans to rent it out in a given period of time and opens the opportunity to tenants to buy it is a good policy to help the less fortunate.

“It is also easier because it does not require collateral or financial statements and makes it easier to own homes,” added Tony Pua.
