Selangor Orchid Fashion Festival 2015 upholds enterprising women

SHAH ALAM, 25 May: The Selangor Orchid Fashion Festival 2015 is specifically to elevate and provide exposure to enterprising women and fashion.

The organisation also opened space to local fashion designers to showcase their own designs.

The Selangor Exco for Health, Welfare, Women’s Affairs and Family, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the initiative is being taken as a continuation of the aim to make Shah Alam a city of art.

“Along with the quality instilled in enterprising women in Selangor, it should be decorated and dotted with great appearances and convincing without us abandoning our oriental features, which is being graciously polite.

“We also take up the call by the state government to make this city a city of art by highlighting local and foreign fashion designers, in addition to attracting them to choose Shah Alam a centre for ‘gracious and polite’ fashion in Malaysia,” she said in a statement.

The organisation of the Selangor Orchid Fashion Festival 2015 also targets the participation of local and international fashion designers, artists, fashion design enthusiasts of today, fashion industry entrepreneurs and also accessories, institutes of higher learning and tourists.

The Selangor Orchid Fashion festival 2015 proves the state government’s support in providing space to local fashion designers.

“We encourage entrepreneurial activity in the fashion industry in Selangor to help female entrepreneurs generate income and expand the market.

“We also provide opportunities for students involved in fashion design to showcase their talent and creativity,” she said.

She said that the organisers provided 80 sales stalls and 80 percent of them have been booked.

The Selangor Orchid Fashion Festival 2015 will take place at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) for three days, starting from May 29 to 31.
