Seoul: CM meets on solar issues

SHAH ALAM, 29 May: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, continued his working visit in Seoul, Korea, starting yesterday to foster cooperation with several companies in the country.

The working visit was accompanied by the Selangor delegation, including the Exco for Investment, SME Industries and Trade and Transport, Datuk Teng Chang Khim.

During the visit, Mohamed Azmin held a business meeting with the world’s largest solar cell manufacturer, Hanwha Q Cells, in preparation for the international production at the Selangor Science Park 2.

“Hanwha Q Cells announced a 900 megawatt (MW) capacity expansion module at the Selangor Science Park 2 this year and 300MW cell capacity.

“The company will also consider Selangor’s request to establish technology and innovation facilities at the Selangor Science Park,” he wrote on Twitter.

Moreover, Mohamed Azmin also visited the Cheonggyecheon River restoration, one of the main tourist destinations which also help boost the economy.

“It is not just related to rivers but encompasses the philosophy of restoration and regeneration for an important source of nature.

“The river restoration will increase the social and ecological sustainability by improving the quality of life,” he said.

In addition, Mohamed Azmin also visited the Seoul Tap Water Arisu, the city’s water supply authority, and the office of LG Display, which is a thin-film transistor manufacturer and supplier.

“Selangor will invite LG Display to invest in Selangor and set up a centre and technological and innovation facilities,” he said.

The visit will continue with the Selangor delegation meeting Malaysian students in Seoul late this evening.
