SHAH ALAM, 10 June: Over 50 houses and stalls around Kampung Sungai Udang, Telok Pulai, and Kampung Delek, Klang, that were damaged in a storm can apply for disaster assistance.

The Selat Klang Assemblyman, Dr Halimah Ali, said that they will help all those involved obtain assistance as soon as possible.

“They can make a complaint at the Assemblyman’s office. We will extend this matter and help in expediting assistance to all victims,” she told Selangor Kini.

During the June 6 incident, there were no fatalities reported and residents said that the storm is the worst incident to ever hit the area.

Trader Abdul Khir Said said that storm has hit the area before but this time it was worse when many trees were uprooted and the roofs of houses and stalls around Kampung Delek were badly affected.

“During the incident, I was moved to look at the condition of the stalls after hearing about the news of the storm.

“I did not expect that our stall was also destroyed, including my sibling’s home nearby,” she said.

At the same time, several temporary disaster operations centres were opened by the Klang Municipal Council to help victims.
