Selangor create new women’s programme

SHAH ALAM, 24 June: The state government will draw up a variety of new programmes for the development of women in the state, especially during the Ramadan month.

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the success of the Muslim Women’s Special Discussion Programme, that is being held for the third time, is being catalyst for the planning involved.

She said that encouraging participation in each district in the programme clearly shows the high commitment of the state government in ensuring the role and contribution of women in the state, which should be recognised.

“We will continue this programme next year and add several new programmes.

“I am informed that this programme will be held together with Semarak Ramadan, which will tour nine districts in Selangor, and has been running for the past three years.

“There is no other purpose, but to enliven the religious festival that is taking place throughout the Ramadan month,” she said yesterday.

Also present at the discussion with the theme ‘Ramadan: Tarbiah for My Family”, was the Chief Minister’s wife, Shamsida Taharin.

At the same time, 150 single mothers received Ramadan contributions in the form of basic necessities and this was also conducted in eight other districts.
