PETALING JAYA, 24 June: The use of smart traffic lights in the entire area of Petaling Jaya is among the future planning by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).
The Mayor of MBPJ, Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, said that it was to reduce traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, due to the increase in vehicles.
He said that MBPJ intends to build its own control room to monitor traffic lights, thereby regulating the flow of traffic.
“This should be thought about for the future because we often receive complaints about traffic congestion in Jalan Othman.
“MBPJ should have control monitors that can control traffic lights around Petaling Jaya. If anything, congestion problems can be overcome,” he said in an interview with the media at the MBPJ headquarters recently.
Mohd Azizi said that MBPJ only has closed circuit cameras (CCTV) for safety, which is being controlled by the authorities.
