Budget 2016: Selangor to allocate to development of new blocks for tahfiz institutions

AMPANG, 18 SEPT: The state government will focus its efforts on building new blocks for tahfiz institutions across Selangor in Budget 2016 to accommodate the influx of students.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Azmin Ali, said that this step is being taken to raise the self-esteem of Muslims in the state to be able to overcome the many challenges ahead.

“Selangor’s reserves have recorded an impressive growth, with an increase of RM3.7 billion in the previous week compared to RM3.2 billion last year.

“This is the highest recorded achievement in the state, but the question is how we can use these funds to raise the self-esteem of Muslims.

“Among the programmes we have planned is developing tahfiz institutions – not just repairing existing buildings but also adding new blocks with boarding facilities for senior citizens who take up al-Quran studies,” he said.

He said this during the handover ceremony of contributions amounting to RM43,000 to the Jami’ilhuda Mosque in Kampung Melayu Subang here today.

The contributions were handed over to the nazir of Jami’ilhuda Mosque, Khalid Basri, to finance the purchase of new carpets and other expenses.

According to Mohamed Azmin, cultivating a generation with good morals is important in ensuring that future leaders do not easily fall prey to negative practices such as corruption and using the people’s assets for personal gain.

After Friday prayers, Mohamed Azmin performed prayers with a congregation for the late former imam of Jami’ilhuda Mosque, who passed away today.
