Recycled handbag make world record

SUBANG, 4 Sept: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPS) presented the Guiness World Record certificate to Mostwell Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the MPSJ Puspanita for making the largest handbag in the world.

The MPSJ Corporate Planning Director, Hamizun Mohd Basar, said that the Holdall made of recycled materials will help reduce illegal advertising.

“Mostwell provided 20 sewing machines to complete the bag in stages.Among the materials used were posters and used banners.

“What is interesting is that Mostwell also produces a variety of creative materials that can be used as souvenirs by using recycled materials,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said this when speaking at the Guiness World Record Certificate Presentation Ceremony at The Place @ One City today.

Also present was the MPSJ Deputy President, Abdullah Marjunid, and the Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk H. Harjeet Singh.

The bag is 25 feet long, 17 feet 10 inches tall and 9 feel 11 inches wide, and received recognition from the Guiness World Record on May 29.

The founder of Mostwell, Folly Chye Geok Lee, said that the bag took six months to make involving as cost of RM16 thousand and participated by 1,492 members of the MPSJ Puspanita, government agencies and non-governmental organisations.

“For the upcoming programme, we are in the effort of breaking a record of making the world’s longest sofa using used jeans that will be made by prisoners,” she said.
