220 participants fight in the Bangi Assemblyman’s Chess Cup

BANGI, 19 Oct: A total of 220 participants from across the country, including Sarawak, took part in the Bangi Assemblyman’s Chess Contest 2015 last weekend.

This is the third time it is being organised and was also joined by the former National Chess Champion, Mohd Kamal Abdullah.

The Bangi Assemblyman, who is also the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) Deputy Speaker, Shafie Ngah, said that efforts will continue to be intensified to attract more participants in the future.

“We also plan to organise it in more appropriate places for the comfort of all.

“We want the people of Bangi to lead and to stay ahead in all fields, especially in sports,” he told Selangor Kini.

Located at the Cempaka Hall in the PKNS Complex, the competition also attracted the participation of a young intelligent player aged 8 years old who will participate in the 12 years and below category.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Competition, Dahari Embong, said that the organisation this time is deemed as a success and on target.

“The competition this time also made history as the highest number of entries in three years,” he said.

The participants clearly enjoyed playing this mind game with strangers.
