API: Port Klang records the highest unhealthy readings

SHAH ALAM, 1 Oct: Port Klang recorded the highest unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) reading of 140 as of 10 o’clock this morning.

The Department of Environment (DOE) said that 18 other areas are experiencing unhealthy readings.

In Selangor, the API readings showed that four areas also recorded unhealthy readings, namely Banting (123), Kuala Selangor (109), Petaling Jaya (108) and Shah Alam (124).

Other areas that are also suffering from unhealthy API readings are (103), Paka, Terengganu (102), Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (112), Putrajaya (108), Kota Tinggi, Johor (123), Larkin Lama, Johor (105) and Pasir Gudang, Johor (127).

Meanwhile, the city of Malacca recorded a reading of 116, Bukit Rambai (118), Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (119), Port Dickson (126), Seremban (106) and Balok Baru, Kuantan (102).

Meanwhile, 29 other areas recorded moderate API readings and four other areas recorded healthy air.

The API reading of between 0 an 50 are catregorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
