SHAH ALAM, JUL 3: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has issued a total of 554 notices and 54 fines to premises in its territory under the Kempen Longkang Bersih campaign, which lasted till June.

MPSJ Yang Dipertua Dato’ Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan stated that out of the said number, 188 premises were issued with notices (NPB) while 121 premises made amendments.

The operation achieved a success rate of 64.36%, higher than the targeted 60%.

“The actions were taken under Section 72 of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133),” he said to reporters.

Nor Hisham said the campaign’s aim was to ensure that drains are clear, so that it would be easier for contractors to clean them.

He added that the campaign was successful due to cooperation of premise owners and tenants who complied with the standardised use of drain covers.

“Among other actions taken were the demolition of illegal structures and drain modifications, repair works, road paving, new traffic flow, garbage collection rescheduling and drain cleaning.”

He said the programme will continue with rejuvenation plans for two main locations, Jalan Kenari 5 and 10.

“The entire campaign is expected to be completed this coming August,” he said.
