Cambodian Muslim students visit UNISEL

SHAH ALAM, JUL 28: A delegation of 28 Cambodian Muslim students visited University of Selangor (UNISEL) at its Shah Alam campus on July 27, in conjunction with the ‘Future Muslim Leaders & Visit to Malaysia 2016’ programme organised by Union of Muslim Youth of Cambodia (UMYC).

Student and Community Network Development Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin said that the programme was to expose selected Muslim youths to become future leaders in the Cambodian Muslim community.

“In the current era, Islamic leadership is important to a country’s transformation.

“The leadership element that needs to be emphasized is the extensive knowledge in facing geopolitics, which is full of challenges,” he said in a statement.

UMYC is an Islamic body which is, in collaboration with International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) and several other bodies, initiating a five-year project that provides professional leadership training and network to Muslim youth leaders in Cambodia.
