Environment-friendly concept enhances MBSA Raya celebration

SHAH ALAM, JUL 19: The ‘Go Green’ concept is once again the theme for Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) Hari Raya celebration this year.

MBSA Corporate Communications and Public Relations Head Shahrin Ahmad said that the green concept encompassed the food preparation, stall decorations and waste management.

Utensils such as plates, bowls, cups, spoons and forks used were made from plastic and paper.

“We also did not use any polystyrene products.

“The decoration for dining tents were based on recycled items, and recycle bins and oil separation bins were prepared for the celebration,” he said.

Besides Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad, the celebration was also attended by Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

A total of RM2,000 was donated to Rumah Safiyyah Seksyen U10 Management Organisation as well as duit raya for 30 orphans.

There were 16 stalls run by MBSA staff that prepared an assortment of food and drinks for guests, including satay, ayam golek, Johor laksa, fried mee, fried koay teow, kuih, roti john, apam balik, local fruits, cendol and ais batu campur.
