KLANG, JUL 25: A total of 91 students were detained in the Klang Utara Truancy Operation recently.

Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Corporate Communications Director Norfiza Mahfiz said that most of the students caught had skipped school to go to cyber centres and their tactic in avoiding suspicion was by hiding their school uniforms in their bags.

“MPK always encourages any party who wishes to conduct similar operations to ensure students are not involved in unhealthy activities.

“Besides, MPK is also actively conducting operations on cyber centres to ensure the owners do not violate regulations by allowing students to enter the premises during school hours,” she said in a statement.

At the same time, Norfiza advised parents to stay alert and be aware of their children’s activities, including who their friends are, in order to prevent them from getting involved in negative and unhealthy activities.

“Cooperation from society is most welcomed in addressing this issue to ensure our youth do not get involved with undesirable activities,” she added.

The operation, led by the District Education Office (PPD), was also joined by the police, Parents & Teachers’ Association (PIBG), MPK as well as school representatives.
