Dengue cases decline, monitoring continues

SHAH ALAM, AUG 10:  After an initial alarm, statistic of dengue cases is showing a decline following the recent festive season.

Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi said the accumulated total cases for epidemic week 31 till August 6, showed a decrease with 851 cases compared to epidemic week 30 with 872 cases.

“There is a decline due to the continuous monitoring by the Selangor Health Department to address the issue.

“However, the State Government remains committed and will continue monitoring, so that the decrease continues in the coming weeks,” she said in a statement.

Petaling registered the highest cases of dengue with 338 cases and accumulated 19 deaths, followed by Hulu Langat with 230 cases and 19 acumulated deaths recorded.

Other districts also registered a decrease – Gombak (108 cases), Sepang (24 cases), Kuala Langat (9 cases), and Kuala Selangor unchanged at seven cases.

Meanwhile, two districts registered an increase in the number of dengue cases.  Klang recorded 107 cases compared to epidemic week 30 with 70 cases, and Hulu Selangor recorded 28 cases compared to 19 cases in epidemic week 30.
