SELAYANG, AUG 31: The blessing from being liberated from colonization was expressed with gratification through the recital of ‘Asmaul Husna’ (99 names of Allah) during the Program Malaysiaku Merdeka.

Interestingly, the recital was led by the Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries Exco, Zaidy Abdul Talib with other attendees at the Dataran Ilmu, Bandar Baru Selayang, last night.

Previously the reading was accompanied by the Soutul Amal ‘nasyid’ group together with Rohingya children from Subang as well as other preachers, in addition to singing the Negaraku to celebrate the 59th year of independence.

Meanwhile, Zaidy in his speech during the celebration at Taman Templer, said that the community needs to understand the meaning of independence in its true context.

He said that there are negative stigma and inaccurate interpretation among the public on the real meaning of independence in the context of this year’s theme, ‘Sehati Sejiwa’.

“‘Sehati Sejiwa’ itself translates to us holding on to our promise to Allah. Hopefully it will continue to be the basis in our effort to liberate our country,” he said.

He added that Malaysians should be grateful that the country is in peace and not be constantly occupied with worldly desires till the true purpose of life on this earth is forgotten.

“We have to free ourselves from lust and temptations from the devil.

“Hopefully we get the blessings of Allah,” he said.
