SHAH ALAM, AUG 29: The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) is doing land survey work as an initiative to determine the proper location for a new Muslim cemetery.
MPAJ Yang Dipertua Abdul Hamid Hussain said the process involves a new cemetery around 20 hectares in Ukay Perdana.
The location is still at the application stage and is awaiting approval from the state government.
“Four hectares in Ukay Perdana will be turned into a religious primary and secondary school, while the remaining 16 hectares will be turned into a Muslim cemetery.
“Land surveying work is being done, and once it’s settled we will have a discussion with relevant parties regarding the gazetting the land as a cemetery,” he was quoted by Sinar Harian.
MPAJ had previously announced that it was trying to secure additional land to accommodate the number of lots in Kampung Kemensah, Ampang.
However, the cemetery in the village can only accommodate 2,000 graves.
That number is insufficient for the additional graves needed around Ampang Jaya.
