500 participants join MPSJ Malaysia Day cycling event

SHAH ALAM, SEP 5: Approximately 500 participants joined the Kayuhan Hari Malaysia Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya MPSJ-KPMC Puchong on September 4.

The cycling event on an 18-kilometre hilly track will be held in conjunction with Malaysia Day, which falls on September 16.

Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Corporate Communications Officer Muhammad Azli Miswan said the ride was also to promote a healthy lifestyle among the Subang Jaya communities through light sporting activities such as group or family cycling.

“The programme also provides a platform for the community to meet and mingle while enjoying healthy physical activities.

“It ultimately raises MPSJ’s image as the administrator of the municipality, who is community-friendly and eco-friendly based on the programme’s concept,” he said in a statement.

The programme was officiated and attended by MPSJ Yang Dipertua Dato’ Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, Puchong Member of Parliament Gobind Singh Deo as well as Kinrara Councilor Ng Sze Han.

The programme was also a collaboration between MPSJ and its main sponsors KPMC Puchong, Serdang District Police Headquarters and the Zone 16 Residents’ Committee.

Participation was free and opened to those aged 15 and above, using bicycles equipped with safety features, especially brakes. In addition, participants also had to wear helmets and were encouraged to use mountain bikes.

Among other activities held during the event were free health check-up, blood donation drive, sale of cycling items and lucky draw with many attractive prizes.
