Yang Dipertua Radin Muhd Imaduddin Radin Abdul Halim said that he views the spread of zika virus seriously as the disease has started to infect local citizens despite numerous prevention efforts by the authorities.

“Based on the briefing by the Malaysian Health Ministry, our view is that the State Government must increase efforts to prevent Aedes mosquitoes from breeding, with cooperation from all parties including residents.

“At the same time, ABIM Selangor urges all citizens in the state to ensure residences and workplaces are free from stagnant water which is a potential breeding place for aedes mosquitoes,” he said in a media statement.

He also advised various parties and society to increase gotong-royong programmes to clean up residential area. He particularly encouraged youths to be aggressively involved in this effort.
