SHAH ALAM, OCT 14: The Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco, Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad has indicated that an additional allocation, especially for apartments in Selangor will be provided in the 2017 Budget.

He said the allocation is expected to be doubled in addition to several upgrading projects running on schedule currently based on the RM10 million allocation for 2016.

“There are several items that we need to focus on next year and an additional budget for apartments in Selangor will be provided to address many long-standing problems which have existed since before the time we (Pakatan) took over.

“Besides the CERIA scheme, the budget will also be used for painting works, elevator repair works, roof and road repairs,” he said.

According to Iskandar, there are still many roads in apartment areas which have yet to be handed over to the local authorities, forcing the Joint Management Body (JMB) to bear the cost of these works.

Overall, the State Government has spent RM85 million for upgrading of apartments under the CERIA scheme since it was introduced in 2010.
