SHAH ALAM, OCT 31: RM209 million has been allocated for the development of health and rural sectors in the 2017 Selangor Budget.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the allocation would cover the implementation of health care schemes and programmes that emphasise on rural health development.

“The total covers 11.6% allocated for the primary health care programmes and anti-dengue and zika programmes.

“In addition, the allocation covers the rural economic development and basic infrastructure for public amenities in rural areas and the upgrading of village roads,” he said while tabling the 2017 Selangor Budget at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on October 31.

Mohamed Azmin said that the focus is concentrated on health development programmes to ensure the harmony of Selangor citizens.

As increasing costs of dialysis treatment is becoming a burden to society, Mohamed Azmin said that the State Government also created sustainable initiatives that can bring long term benefits to patients.

That is why the Rakyat’s Dialysis Programme was introduced as an initiative to help patients who are forced to pay the increasing cost of dialysis treatment in the country.

“The State Government suggests to increase allocation for the dialysis treatment programme from RM 1.7 million annually to RM5 million for 2017,” he said.
