RM22 million to develop digital infrastructure

SHAH ALAM, OCT 31: A total of RM22 million has been allocated to develop digital infrastructure in Selangor, said Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

RM 14 million is allocated to develop the Smart Digital Eco-system that includes Big Data Command & Control Centre and the Smart Apps Development Platform.

The remaining RM8 million will be allocated for Internet of Things (IoT) enabler and to improve the Smart Selangor WiFi, which is an important component in the development of the Smart Digital Eco-system.

“Big Data Analytics plays a critical role, including the 3V principle, which is ‘high volume’, ‘high velocity’ and ‘high variety’.

“We estimate that Big Data Analytics can enable the State Government and agencies to make fast decisions and act decisively through ‘Real-time monitoring’,” he said while tabling the 2017 Selangor Budget at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on October 31.

Mohamed Azmin said Big Data Analytics combined with the Internet of Things (IoT), e-commerce and the use of applications are actually smart solutions under the long term concept of an integrated Smart State.

“The state government will cooperate with global information technology giants using the latest technology to produce more accurate and effective policies for the rakyat,” he said.
