SHAH ALAM, OCT 31: While the Federal Government cuts allocation to the health sector, the Selangor Government has instead allocated RM125 million yearly to implement its Peduli Sihat Scheme in the state.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the scheme will offer free healh care services to 250,000 families or one million Selangor citizens with a household income of RM3,000 and below.

“The State Government is very concerned about the health of its citizens that can affect productivity. Although the State Government does not have huge resources like Putrajaya, we still have an immense sense of compassion.

“The State Government will introduce a medical and healthcare coverage scheme known as Peduli Sihat Scheme to households with the lowest 40% incomes (B40) which is the most pressured group due to higher living costs,” he said while tabling the 2017 Selangor Budget on October 31.

The Peduli Sihat Scheme will be managed by Selgate Corporation as a Third-Party Healthcare Administrator that will cover the primary care for each eligible family up to RM500 a year.

He added that the scheme’s participants can get treatment at 1,000 registered clinics in Selangor and the Klang Valley.

Those who are born or have stayed more than 10 years in Selangor qualify to join the scheme.

Registration can be made at Assemblymen Offices, local authorities, Land and District Office, registered clinics as well as online registration by providing confirmation of income.

“Every participant will receive a Peduli Sihat health card. The main account holder along with his dependents – wife and children under 21 years old can receive treatment from general practitioners at registered clinics according to the usage limits and qualifying conditions,” he said.

Clinics registered under the Peduli Sihat Scheme will charge a doctor’s consultation fee that does not burden the rakyat, in line with the fees set by the Malaysian Medical Association.
