“We hear the complaints that the penalty and deposit imposed by the State Government are too high, therefore we have agreed to abolish them.

“However, with this exemption, applicants will be charged RM3.40 per metre.

“Annual fees depend on the approved land space, between RM550 to RM1,890,” he said.

He said that during the Temporary Occupation License Approval Letter Award Ceremony to the 33 recipients on November 18.

Also present were Kuala Selangor District Officer Shamsul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor and Permatang Assemblyman Dato’ Sulaiman Abdul Razak.

On October 16, 2013, the State Government had rejected requests for the land ownership as the lands were located in areas of river reserves.

However, the State Government had reconsidered the appeal by 33 residents as a special case, considering that they have resided there for approximately 30 years.

On December 31, 2014, the State Government had approved license for temporary occupation and the approval letters dated January 2, 2016 have been given to the applicants.
