SHAH ALAM, JAN 27: Raja Tun Uda Library (PPAS) is now equipped with facilities for the visually Impaired/Disabled (OKU).
PPAS Director Mastura Muhamad said PPAS offers audio books which benefit this group of people in getting reading materials.
“This service is provided with collaboration from the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) and several publishing companies, who translate local books to audio form.
“This initiative is driven by Dato’ Menteri Besar’s commitment to turn local works by National Laureates into audios for the visually impaired OKU.
“The OKU who are visually impaired do not need to read braile books anymore. On the contrary, they can use the medium of audio books and just listen,” he said.
He said this initiative benefits the group more as the audio translation comes in Bahasa Melayu.
“It used to be difficult as audio books are usually in English and not available in Bahasa Melayu.
“This initiative by the State Government and PPAS facilitates readers, especially the visually impaired.
“We hope this improvement will encourage more people to come to PPAS,” he said.
