Flood victims in Kuala Selangor rise

KUALA SELANGOR, SEP 4: Flood victims in Kampung Seri Sentosa rose from 33 to 45 people last night.

A spokesperson for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) said, as of 9.45 last night, all victims from 14 families have been relocated to a temporary shelter at Surau Ladang Tuan Mee.

“All victims have been evacuated when their homes were flooded as high as 0.3 to 1.5 metres due to heavy rain since 4 a.m. (yesterday),” he said.

The evacuation was done by BOMBA, Royal Malaysian Police, Civil Defense Force and Social Welfare Department.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported heavy rain and thunderstorm and strong wind warning, until late Monday, for Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Sarawak.

That can cause strong wind up to 50 kmph and rough seas with waves as high as 3.5 metres (11 feet) and dangerous to small boats.
