Its Assemblyman, Hasbullah Mohd Ridzwan said it is an annual programme to strengthen ties with the Chinese community.

“At the same time, they could take photographs and convey any complains they have directly to us,” he said.

Last September 28, he and Gombak Setia PAS had distributed moon cakes in Taman Tasik Seri Gombak and Pasar Moden Seri Gombak.

Also present were Selayang Municipal Council Member, Azizul Abu Bakar; Gombak PAS Secretary, Fahmi Mat Som and Gombak DHPP Head, Kong Tuck Wah.

The Mid-Autumn Festival also known as The Moon cake Festival was first celebrated to mark the victory of the Chinese who defeated the Mongols at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, in 1280 before AD to 1341 AD.

It is celebrated on the 15th day on the eight month of Chinese calendar, which is at the end of August to the end of September.

Moon cake is one of the treats of the festival and is usually filled with red beans, lotus seeds or salted egg yolk.
