SHAH ALAM, 15 Sept: The establishment of the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) was not done quietly as alleged by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin, instead it was launched in a ceremony that received wife local media coverage.

The Acting Chairman of the Select Committee for Agencies, Statutory Bodies and State Government Subsidiary Companies of the Selangor State Assembly (JP-ABAS), Rodziah Ismail, said that this proves that Umno leaders received inaccurate facts and are confusing the people.

“I think outsiders do not understand because they were given a lot of untrue facts. I advise that if you want to be a hero like the Sungai Panjang Assemblyman, who even went on television.

“Khairy Jamaluddin himself, when I listened to what he said again, much of what he said was wrong,” she said.

She explained that the DEIG is unlike 1MDB which was only known to the public after the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and the Sarawak Report respectively in their reports exposed the scandal involving billions of ringgit.

Rodziah added that JP-ABAS however will check the company’s establishment procedure again and propose several improvement measures to be carried out if necessary.

“At JP-ABAS, we are looking at this matter and if necessary we have to return to the basic objective of MBI’s restructuring and MBI has taken the measure to establish DEIG, but at the same time we are of the opinion that improvements have to be made.

“Apart from that, there are no other issues being raised. We are still talking about accountability such as how to manage the assets of the company later on,” Rodziah added.

On May 20, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, launched the Selangor Prosperity Agenda and DEIG in a glorious ceremony in front of about 200 attendees and over 10 local media representatives.
