Allegations of demolishing temple are malicious

SHAH ALAM, 28 Aug: Criticism that the state government is practicing discrimination and being mean in demolishing temples should be stopped immediately.

Senior Exco, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that the state government always acts in accordance to the proper channels and procedures before any decision is made.

He said that the decision is also not made for the benefit of individuals or for profit, instead it is for convenience and the wellbeing of everyone.

“For the third Klang bridge, we had to relocate two temples, unfortunately there are associations that refused to understand the situation.

“In fact, they are putting pressure on our officials so that certain sites will be granted to them regardless of the interests of other associations.

“So, irresponsible parties are making unfounded accusations saying that I want to demolish the temple at one of the sites requested by someone else,” he told Selangor Kini.

Prior to this, Chang Khim donated RM840,700 to over 60 Buddhist and temple associations at the SUK Building this morning.

Elaborating, he also warned those slandering to correct their statement so as to clear his reputation.

“Do not blame me because the decision was made collectively by the committee comprising of other Exco members such as V Ganabatirao and Elizabeth Wong.

“We are not acting blindly but according to reports and also the input provided by the respective association representatives.

“I also warn to not make accusations and to put pressure on me or officials to approve the application according to their wishes,” he stressed.
