SELAYANG, 22 Aug: The Vehicle-Free Day Programme introduced by the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) is to encourage a healthy lifestyle among the local community.
The MPS Corporate Director, Mohamad Zin Masoad, said that the leisurely activity will take place on September 6 in Bandar Baru Selayang.
“In addition to encouraging the people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, it also seeks to reduce air pollution by encouraging the use of environmentally friendly transportation,” he said in a statement.
He said that the closure of roads for the activity will be done in stages involving several areas in the municipality.
Among them are Persiaran 1, Bandar Baru Selayang; Bulatan Beringin; Lebuh Raya Selayang-Kepong; Jalan Bidara; Persiaran 3, Bandar Baru Selayang and Bulatan Siantan.
“Many activities are organised such as cycling, walking, skating, skateboarding, the Jom Sihat talk and a lucky draw.
“Registration starts at 7.00 am and the first 300 participants will receive a free t-shirt as well,” he said.
The programme will be opened by the Exco for Infrastructure, Public Amenities and Agro-Based Industries, Zaidy Abdul Talib.
