SHAH ALAM, 10 Aug: A total of 25 roadside stalls owned by foreigners were seized by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) on August 2 in an enforcement operation.

The operation was led by the Director of the Enforcement Department, Addy Hisyam Elias, and the Enforcement Assistant Officer, Roli Jaafar, together with 10 other members and raided the trading activities of the foreigners in front of the Surau at Kampung Tasik Permai, Ampang, Selangor.

The Cooperate Communications Officer, Norhayati Ahmad, said that the inspection found that 25 foreign workers, mainly from Myanmar, are holders of UNHCR cards.

“The Council also found that they do not have licences from the council to undertake such activities.

“During the same operation, we also seized two motorcycles selling vegetables, fish, and clothes,” she said in a press statement.

Norhayati said that they carry out their activities every weekend as early as 7 in the morning to 11 in the morning.

“The activities of the foreigners also caused local residents discomfort with the foul odour in residential areas.

“In addition, their activities were causing traffic congestion every morning,” she said.
