SHAH ALAM, 29 June: It is unfair for Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to ask the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to resign if he fails to resolve the water restructuring in the state.

Klang MP, Charles Santiago, said that during Abdul Khalid’s administration, he was seen as giving more power to the Federal government compared to Selangor regarding the issue.

He said that the agreement signed earlier was also in favour of the Federal government.

“Abdul Khalid;s view is irresponsible because when he was the Chief Minister, the state government actually lost much power in Selangor’s water management.

“The state government only had the responsibility of directing development to developers to build the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant and to give land, but no power to determine which technology to be used,” he told Selangor Kini.

Prior to this, Abdul Khalid, who is also the former Chief Minister of Selangor, reiterated his call for Mohamed Azmin to immediately finalise the water restructuring in the state or step down from his post.

He claimed that Mohamed Azmin is deliberately delaying the acquisition process of the four water concessionaires and failed to execute a detailed action plan to resolve the issue.

However, the statement was refuted by Mohamed Azmin who said that Abdul Khalid failed to resolve the issue for six years as the Chief Minister.
