Exco: Give chance to new badminton talent

SHAH ALAM, 29 June: The participation of junior players and new talent in the Yonex-FKK International Cup managed to provide a positive impact and enliven the event.

The Exco for Young Generation, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development, Amirudin Shari, said that he will discuss with the organisers to provide room to new talent and senior players who have made their mark internationally.

“It is to give a chance to players to showcase their talent in competing with legends such as Foo Kok Keong,” he told Selangor Kini after the prize giving ceremony.

Amirudin said that the tournament had a significant effect in the development of badminton in Selangor with the presence of many world champions.

He said that the participation of top world players will be more meaningful with the sharing of knowledge and experience with new talent.

“We will look into this and their involvement is not just to compete but there may be sessions with junior players,” he said.

The Yonex-FKK International Cup 2015 which took the name of a former Selangor and Malaysia player, Food Kok Keong, saw the participation of many famous players from home and abroad.

Apart from Malaysia, it attracted teams from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia to participate in the tournament which has been going on for the past four years.

This tournament witnessed Musica Flypower from Indonesia coming in as the winner, followed by Shah Alam A (Malaysia) and Swan Lun Rummit (Thailand) came in third.
