CM: Abdul Khalid failed to finalise water issue in 6 years as CM

SHAH ALAM, 28 June: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, cynically criticised the former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who failed to finalise the Selangor water restructuring agreement despite holding office for six years.

Mohamed Azmin gave the brief response when asked about Abdul Khalid’s call for him to step down because he has not finalised the agreement until now.

“He (Abdul Khalid) failed to solve it for six years. I have been here only nine months,” he told the media at the Iftar at the Chief Minister’s Official Residence in Section 7.

Abdul Khalid, in a previous statement, wants a capable and competent successor to carry out the responsibility.

Azmin, who is also the Bukit Antarabangsa Assemblyman, in a statement on June 14 said that the Selangor government and the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) are expected to issue a joint statement in the near future to formally announce the Selangor water restructuring agreement.

This was in reference to his meeting with the KeTTHA Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, which took place during the week.
