Exco: Women’s sport development should be given attention

SHAH ALAM, 11 May: The Selangor government is willing to consider the need to organise a women’s football cup championship if there is high demand.

The Exco for Young Generation Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurship Development, Amirudin Shari, said that the development of women’s sports should also be given support irrespective of the gender difference issue.

“We are prepared to consider it is there is high demand, the same goes for futsal tournaments that is seen as progressing well in Selangor.

“However, we always provide support to women’s sports programmes such as the Cardiff City Cup recently,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said that the development of sports in Selangor is inclusive and the state government is drawing up a long-term development system.

“We believe if our programmes go well, we are able to maintain Selangor’s best performance at the national level.

“Through a good system, we are confident that we can produce more quality athletes, not from just one family or a particular gender,” he said.
