MPS employees prohibited from bringing gadgets to meetings starting June

SELAYANG, 29 May: Employees of Selangor local authorities are prohibited from taking any smartphone or gadgets during important meeting sessions.

The Yang Dipertua of the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS), Sulaiman Abd Rahmad, said that the order was issued by the Central Integrity Committee, for the security of confidential and personal information.

“The order is effective for tender quotation meetings and governance issued. We fear that the final outcome of the meeting has not been decided but information is already known to the public.

“The danger in the sophistication of today’s technology should be controlled because confidential information can be easily spread in a short period,” he said during the full MPS meeting today.

Sulaiman said that MPS will provide a special place for staff to keep all gadgets before a meeting starts.

“The ban will take effect at MPS starting June,” he said.
