Selangor Excos ready to declare assets, when will Umno-BN leaders?

SHAH ALAM, 11 Mar: Selangor Excos are ready to declare their assets at any time, as done by the PKR Vice President, Rafizi Ramli yesterday.

They have also asked Umno leaders to emulate the Selangor government which is always ready to declare their assets without the need to protect any personal interests.

The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that he has no problem regarding this matter and he has done it since he took up the position as Exco in 2008.

“We are ready to do it. If fact, it is already a policy in the Selangor government leadership under Pakatan Rakyat where the Chief Minister and Exco members should declare their assets, which started since 2008.

“Instead, they (Umno) should have started it. Do not ask people to do things which they themselves hesitate to do because it is very embarrassing,” he told Selangor Kini.

Yesterday, the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he vowed to ensure that the entire Exco lineup of the state declared their assets as done by Rafizi on an individual capacity.

“It will be done because it has been our policy since 2008,” he said in Parliament yesterday.

He said this in response to the challenge by the Cheras Umno Chief, Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee, for PR Assemblymen and MPs to declare their assets.

Meanwhile, the Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family, Fr Daroyah Alwi, said that Umno should feel ashamed because PR has long implemented the declaration of assets.

“It is a testament that the Selangor government is transparent. Of course as Exco members we have no problem and are prepared to it, as suggested by the Selangor State Assembly (DNS),” he said.
