Central government should disclose Kidex agreement

SHAH ALAM, 20 Feb: The central government is being urged to explain why the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) agreement cannot be disclosed to be public, as required by the state government.

Bukit Gasing Assemblyman, R.Rajiv, said that the announcement is important for the people compared to finding ways to continue the Kidex project even without consent from the state government.

“It is wrong when the ministry ignored the three key requirements set by the state government.

“The central government, through the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) have prerequisites. The state government also has the right to protect the interests of the people,” he said in a statement.

Prior to this, the Public Works Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, said that they met all requirements set and will refer the matter to the Attorney-General’s Office.

On Monday, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, announced the cancellation of Kidex as the concessionaire failed to comply with three requirements before February 14.

This includes failing to provide an independent Traffic Impact Assessment, the Social Impact Assessment and the Environmental Impact Assessment.

The concession company also failed to disclose the official toll amount estimates to be collected and the rate of return on investments, including the toll rates to be charged.
