SHAH ALAM, 27 Nov: The increase of up to 12,000 participants per year has been projected to register under the Selangor Microcredit Scheme (Skimsel), and 8,000 participants for the Urban Poor Microcredit programme (MiMBAR).

“These figures show that Skimsel and MiMBAR successfully managed to provide confidence to the poor to participate, subsequently receiving benefits to change their lives.

“Of the total funds for Skimsel, over RM25 million was distributed to all participants while MiMBAR managed to provide funding of RM10 million,” she said during the Selangor State Assembly today.

In the meantime, Daroyah (PKR-Sementa) also informed that the percentage of repayment for the MiMBAR programme increased up to 99 percent as of October.

She said to ensure the effectiveness of both programmes, several measures have been taken by the state government.

“Skimsel and MiMBAR will work with government agencies to obtain training assistance, entrepreneurship workshops, promote products, opportunity to participate in product quality improvement carnival projects and packaging, amongst others,” she said.
