New FAS President can bring changes to Selangor’s football development

SHAH ALAM, 24 Dec: The election of the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, as the new President of the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) would hopefully bring about changes to the development of football in Selangor.

The Selangor Team Captain, Mohd Bunyamin Umar, said that the appointment would certainly benefit FAS as full attention is being given to the development of football in the state.

He said that focus of preparing the Red Giants for the Malaysian League next season is also running smoothly.

“Of course we cannot expect dramatic changes but hopefully this appointment will lead us to a better direction after this.

“With the cooperation of all parties, whether at the level of the association, management and team, I am certain that Selangor will continue to provide a significant challenge in the Malaysian League, just like last season,” he told Selangor Kini.

Bunyamin who is leading Selangor for the second season feels confident with the ability of the team despite it being lined with young players.

He also supported the appointment of the FAS Vice President, Datuk Subanan Kamal, as the Selangor Manager because the former manager of the Malayan Tigers has vast experience in the state and nation’s football.

“In football, we have to get rid of political sentiments. Just like Tan Sri Annuar Musa for Kelantan, we see The Red Warriors continuing to advance and succeed.

“Subahan is a native of Selangor, understands the intricacies of the state football and is able to guide Selangor towards success,” he said.
