He said that the effort is to highlight the aspects as the image of Selangor through the state budget 2015 which will be presented.

“If we want to carry out development and factor in the people, culture needs to be factored in together with other aspects.

“If we want prosperity and leave behind art and culture, it is not complete as a civilisation, race and country,” he said when launching the Kajang Art festival and the Selangor Craft Bazaar at the Kajang Stadium near hear last night.

The festival is organised by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) to feature the variety of art to the community, in addition to helping operators of local craft goods promote their products.

This festival, which was held for the first time, featured various interesting events including a car exhibition, cultural dance, singing and the sale of handicraft.

In the meantime, Amirudin said that various cultural and art activities will be launched at the end of December as part of the Visit Selangor Year event celebration.

He said that among the programmes that will be focused on include an art and culture award to appreciate art practitioners who are successful at the state and international level.

“Selangor, as a developed state, provides many art facilities including the art sites and film centres.

“In fact, we are the largest art placement site in the country like the Mara University of Technology (UiTM) which has a performing arts programme that gives additional value to Selangor,” he added.

Firstly, the state government put forward the intention to increase art and culture activities and programmes by preparing three times the provisions compared to past years.
