Anwar denies there is a letter to bind Azmin

KLANG, 21 Oct: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, denies the existence of the alleged letter between the party and its Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali, regarding the appointment as the Selangor Chief Minister.

He said that this was deliberately being brought up by Umno because he personally did not receive the e-mail of the letter of agreement.

“Matters concerning the party, he (Mohamed Azmin) is still the Deputy President and Rafizi is the Secretary General. The source was from Umno. The e-mail they said was sent to me, but I did not receive it.

“So, this was an e-mail from the Umno office. If it was sent to me, I would definitely have received it. I have checked; there is none,” he told the media today.

He said that Mohamed Azmin’s appointment for the number one position in Selangor was fully supported, and in fact, he is personally impressed with his way of administration.

He said that Rafizi’s appointment as the PKR Secretary General was to replace Datuk Saifuddin Nasution who agreed to strengthen the party’s leadership.

“Why would we want to bind him? We support him as the Chief Minister. We support him as the Deputy President.

“Why does Umno want friction? We need a solid team and if we see the tension during the contest, the Chief Minister appointment was our stance as well.

“We do not agree, for instance, the authorities, including the palace, disregards the people’s voice. Our stance has not changed.

“But, we chose to support Mohamed Azmin and several weeks ago, handled the state government administration with considerable pride, but also in line with the approaches of Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, in his writing “Radizi’s real job as Sec-Gen” revealed that there was a written letter by the PKR Secretary General, Rafizi Ramli, to Mohamed Azmin.

The undated letter stipulates that PKR has the right to sack Azmin as the Chief Minister of Selangor if he was found to not follow the party’s instructions.

The letter was addressed to the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Youth Chief, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

However, Raja Petra claimed that Mohamed Azmin has not signed the agreement so far.

Mohamed Azmin previously denied the existence of any agreement between him and PKR on his appointment as the Chief Minister of Selangor.
