SC-LA investigates proposal to build the KIDEX, SKIP highways

SHAH ALAM, 11 July: The Select Committee of Local Authorities (SC-LA) is currently investigation current issues regarding the local authorities in Selangor.

The Chairman of the SC-LA, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Selangor State Assembly, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said that among the issues concerned is the proposal to build the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway and the Serdang-Kinrara-Putrajaya Expressway (SKIP).

He said that the SC-LA is also investigating the zone conversion of USJ 7 and USJ 10, which is under the jurisdiction of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

“The committee is now studying this matter in depth by checking the MPSJ 2020 Local Plan.

“We are also taking evidence from MPSJ and the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) regarding allegations that the draft amendments did not follow procedure,” he said during a press conference at the Annex Hall today.

Also present were other members of the SC-LA – the Assemblyman for Bukit Gasing, R Rajib; the Assemblyman for Lembah Jaya, Khasim ABdul Aziz and the Assemblyman for Ijok, Dr Idris Ahmad.

Apart from MPSJ and the DTCP, explanations were also taken from the Executive Councillor for Local Government, Studies and Research, Datuk Teng Chang Kim, and the Executive Councillor for Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers, Iskandar Abdul Samad.

At the same time, the SC-LA will discuss issues involving the Commissioner of Buildings (COB), which maintains and manages strata housing, especially low-cost houses.

For that purpose, the committee held a private hearing with the COBs from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj).

“As a result of the investigation, the committee will make a number of findings and report it, in addition to making several recommendations in the report to be tabled at the upcoming State Assembly session,” he said.
