Change of CM, PR leaders should be conscious of the people’s needs

SHAH ALAM, 23 June: The issue of changing the Chief Minister of Selangor, a raised by some quarters, should not only take into account the views of a specific group in making the decision.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that the views of the people should also be taken into account and not just the views of political leaders in this issue.

He said that political leaders should go down to the ground to receive the real views at the grassroots level.

“Do not completely ignore the desires of the ordinary citizen. They too have the right because the Chief Minister does not just belong to politicians, but also belongs to all the people,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

He said this in response to calls by some quarters who want the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, to be replaced.

Iskandar’s statement shows that the Selangor PAS still gives their full support to Abdul Khalid and this is different than what was stated by the Selangor PAS Election Director, Jaafar Sulaiman, who claimed that several state PAS leaders do not support the Chief Minister.

Iskandar, who is also the state PAS Commissioner, said that political parties went down to appeal to the people to obtain support during the 13th General Election (GE13).

In this regard, he said that now is the time to obtain the views of the public, especially when it involves a major change like changing the Chief Minister.

“If the people do not bless the change, then the effect will be received in the next general election. Pakatan Rakyat should be people-friendly and this includes being sensitive to their needs.

“Let the views of all groups and the people be taken into account, not just a particular group,” he said.
