Abdul Khalid spends time celebrating Wesak Day with residents of Cheras

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 May: Despite his busy schedule as Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim took the opportunity to attend a ceremony to distribute supplies to the less fortunate in conjunction with the Wesak Day celebration yesterday.

He donated groceries to about 70 less fortunate residents at the Buddhist Association at Taman Ikan Emas, Cheras.

His presence was warmly welcomed by the attendees who took the opportunity to greet and take pictures with Abdul Khalid, who is currently campaigning for the position of Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

“Wesak Day commemorates the birth and enlightenment of Buddha.

“I would like to wish a Happy Wesak Day to all Buddhists,” he said.

At the same time, Khalid, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, contributed RM10,000 towards the success of this programme.

Apart from the presentation of donations, he and the attendees were entertained with various performances, including a dance performance by children.

Once the celebration was over, Abdul Khalid took the opportunity to visit the area where fallen trees caused damage to residents’ cars at the Sri Johor Flats at Bandar Tun Razak.
