A Huge Portion of the CM, Selangor Leadership Salary Channelled to the MES Fund

SHAH ALAM, 14 Apr: A huge portion of the salaries of the Chief Minister, Executive Councillors, Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be channelled to the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) agenda Fund.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the cut will be made in accordance with the decision reached during the State Government Council Meeting (MMKN).

“The Chief Minister’s old wage was RM14,175.15. The new salary of RM29,250 involves a cut of RM15,074.85 and the revised salary is RM14,175.15.

“The old salary of Executive Councillors was RM6,109.29. The new salary of RM20,250 involves a cut of RM5,250 and the revised salary is RM15,000. The old Speaker’s salary was RM6,109.29. The new salary of RM22,500 involves a cut of RM7,500 and the revised salary is RM15,000.

“The old salary of the Seputy Speaker was RM3,327.50. The new salary of RM15,750 involves a cut of RM3,750 and the revised salary is RM12,000,” he said.

He said this when tabling the Supplementary Supply Bill at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) today.

However, Assemblymen will still receive the full of their new salary of RM11,250, without any cuts after being increased from the old salary of RM6,000.

5.2

Last November, the DNS approved the salary increase for all 56 Assemblymen, effective 1 January, with the Deputy Speaker receiving the highest increase of 373.3 percent.

The Members of Administration and Members of the State Assembly (Remuneration) (Amendment) Enactment 2013 also provides an increase in wage for the Chief Minister, the DUN Speaker and Executive Councillors.
