MPSJ Raids Illegal ‘Techno Disco’

SHAH ALAM, 9 Dec: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) raided an illegal entertainment centre which disturbed the peace of local residents in a operation in Puchong recently.

The Director of the MPSJ Enforcement Department, Major (Rtd) Mohd Rasip Rasul, said that the raid was the second time as the premises had previously been raided and charged a compound last month for running entertainment activities with a valid licence from MPSJ.

“When inspection was done from room to room, several customers were found in the premises. This entertainment premises also carried out entertainment activities such as karaoke and offered ‘disco techno’ entertainment to customers present,” he told Selangor Kini today.

Mohd Rasip said that the operation was conducted after receiving complaints from the public claiming that the premises was carrying out illegal activities in addition to the loud music which was disturbing the peace of nearby residents.

“The premises may be fined a maximum of RM25,000 and MPSJ seized two sets of entertainment equipment and closed down the premises under Section 6(1) of the Selangor Entertainment & Entertainment Places Enactment 1995 (Revised 2001), which is carrying out entertainment activities without licence from MPSJ,” he added.

He said that the premises had previously been taken action upon by the gambling, triads and vices (D7) branch of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in the past four months.

Meanwhile, Mohd Rasip said that MPSJ will perform continuous monitoring on the premises, so long as the premise does not have a valid licence.
